SoundCloud is introducing its new feature called “Fans” to enhance artists’ interaction with their listeners. It is now accessible on SoundCloud for Artists, enabling users to identify their most valuable fans based on listening behavior, comments, sharing, and location. Artists can also send direct messages to keep fans informed about upcoming releases, merchandise, tickets, and more. On May 8th, “Fans” was launched for 50,000 Next Pro artists, following a six-week testing period involving 10,000 artists. The feature is currently in beta.
Tracy Chan from SoundCloud expressed in a statement, “We believe artists should have direct access to their fans. Our company was established and developed to assist artists in sharing and connecting through music. Let’s be honest: building a fan base (and being able to engage those fans when necessary) is the true way to make a living from music.” In March, SoundCloud introduced a new royalty structure to encourage deeper connections between artists and fans. This feature utilizes detailed data collected from the fan-powered revenue system and aims to generate greater profits for artists.
